TikTok stars sent to jail for portraying Ganduje as ‘corrupt’ in skit
The Kano State Magistrate Court has remanded Mubarak Muhammed and Nazifi Muhammed, two Tiktok skit makers, who created a controversial video about the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Peoples Gazette reports that they were charged for defaming the character of the governor with a skit portraying him as corrupt.
Mubarak Muhammed known as Uniquepikin and his colleague, portrayed Ganduje as a corrupt official who has sold most of the state’s lands.
Uniquepikin and Nazif pleaded guilty after the charges of conspiracy and defamation of the state helmsman were read.
The presiding Magistrate, Aminu Gambari subsequently ordered the remand of the two Tikokers in prison custody.
He adjourned the case to November 7, 2022.
In other news, a Magistrate court sitting in Ogba has ordered that four persons, a music producer and three National Youth Corps members be remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional facility in Apapa, Lagos.
According to Lagos Police PPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, the four were arrested after a video of them assaulting policemen went viral on social media.
The defendants were arraigned in court on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, for “serious assault” on officers.
They are 33-year-old producer, Ehis Tito Odigie, and Miracle Onukuoforobi, 27, a student of Igbinedion University.
Others include 31-year-old Bolade Richard and 26-year-old Oyedeji Motunrayo, who are both corps members.
In the video which captured the incident, the young men could be seen engaging a group of policemen in fisticuffs.
One of them was captured on film pushing off a policeman’s cap which he later seized after picking it from the ground.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, both parties had video recordings which were reviewed.
“The police officers too are undergoing questioning. Investigation is ongoing. One thing remains sure: everyone, police inclusive, found culpable will face the law,” Hundeyin added.
