The management of the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) says they are working closely with their unionised staff to resolve issues that resulted in their staff staging a protest against management last Monday, October 31, 2022.
They have therefore assured all their stakeholders to remain calm “as the Board and Management continue to dialogue with labour to find a resolution to the impasse and to ensure there is no threat to life and property.”
VALCO in a press statement on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, said the continuous operation of VALCO is significant as it will anchor both the upstream and downstream industries, and thus will work with its internal stakeholders to ensure that the company remains functional.
It will be recalled that workers of the Volta Smelter Aluminium Company (VALCO) on Monday embarked on a protest over what they said were the failure of the company’s management to index their wages to the United States dollar.
The workers also want two executive management members to be relieved of their posts since they have attained the compulsory retirement age, according to the workers.
They named the two management members as the Chief Executive Officer, Dan Acheampong and the Human Resource Director, Festus Quaidoo.
