Man burnt to death
On Sunday, October 2, a fire that destroyed a 25-room structure at 48, Jagunmolu Street, Bariga area in Lagos state resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man who has not yet been named.
According to Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, who confirmed the occurrence, the agency received a distress call at 3:19 a.m., and firemen were sent to the scene right away. She claimed that at roughly 12:31 a.m., they also received a fire alarm at 19 Apata Street in Shomolu.
“The Shomolu incident involved four rooms and three shops in a bungalow building consisting of eight rooms and four shops while the Bariga fire involved 10 rooms in a bungalow building consisting of 25 rooms and 18 shops.
Preliminary investigation revealed negligence as the undercurrent cause of both fires which led to electrical surge as reported shock was witnessed at Shomolu before the arrival of the firefighters” she said
