Sarkodie names rappers he’d take on in a battle and why
Rapper Sarkodie, who has won numerous awards, has chosen the artists with whom he would engage in a rap battle and explained his reasoning.
Sarkodie’s recent remarks on media figures during an interview with Fire Stick have put him in the news for a few days. Sarkodie asserts that some members of the media lack the moral character to critique artists because they have not yet advanced to the point where they ought to.
According to Sarkodie, he is interested in contesting Nigeria’s M.I. Abaga and South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest in a rap battle in Hip-hop. He made the disclosure while speaking in an interview with Ghanaian blogger Emmanuel Sandyman also known as Fire Stick.
Before naming the rappers he would love to battle with, Sarkodie disclosed that he wouldn’t want to battle with any young rapper in the industry.
“I feel you only respond when you’re not sure of your [superior] position,” he reasoned.
He, however, admitted he has an interest in taking on an international rapper.
“M.I. Abaga, yeah. Definitely,” he nodded. “Cassper, yeah,” he agreed when the host cited the South African rap act also.
No disrespect [to other rappers] but let’s be realistic, businesswise,” he explained.
His concerns are majorly promotional.
“If I have a lyrical battle with Cassper, South Africa will be watching what I’m doing. Nigeria, if I battle M.I., they’ll watch.”
