Man falls from Tamale interchange; suffers life-threatening injuries (video)

A middle-aged man has fallen from the Tamale Interchange, which has just been opened in the Northern Regional Capital.

The man may have made an attempt on his life, but he miraculously lived despite suffering grave injuries.

The man, who many believe to be mentally ill, is seen in a less than minute-long video online jumping from the height of the interchange and landing on the ground while neighbors cheer him on.

He however did not die and was rushed to the Tamale Central Hospital for treatment according to some onlookers who wondered what the motivation for the act was.

Police in Tamale confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com and disclosed that they are investigating the matter and are yet to take a statement from the man who is yet to be identified.

Residents voiced their concerns about how pedestrians, particularly youngsters, had transformed the dual-carriage interchange into a walkway and playground in April of this year.

Even though TaMA taskforce members are occasionally sent to the interchange and its surroundings to maintain order, the situation resumes as soon as they leave the office.

The Kumasi Road is connected to Bolgatanga Road, the Central Taxi Rank, the Central Market intersection with Melcom Road, and other roads via the approximately one kilometer-long Tamale interchange.
