I gave my song to Abeiku Santana but he never played – Grace Ashy

Gospel musician Grace Appiah Kubi of Ghana, also known by her stage as Grace Ashy, recalled how she handed radio and television host Abeiku her debut song but was let down by him.

She allegedly published her debut song, “Adea Yesu,” in the early 2000s, when she was just starting out as an artist. She stated she gave the music to Abeiku Santana but he never played it.

I gave Abeiku Santana the song, but he didn’t play it. I was angry and disappointed in the presenter, but I was inspired to put some time and money into my work to disprove such people,” she said.

Speaking in an interview in an interview on XYZ with Agyeman Prempeh, the gospel artist shared how her music career began. She said, “I started singing in church when I moved to stay with my grandmother.”

“When I came to Accra, I started a church with Rev. Michael Osei Bonsu in Adenta but started going to Gospel Light with my late husband, where I was the lead singer. Through this, I started writing music. I released my debut single, ‘Adea Yesu’ in the year 2000”.

The veteran Gospel singer however disclosed that she had nothing from the GFA after all her association with them. “His Excellency J. A. Kuffuor, then President of Ghana told the GFA board to take good care of me but they didn’t heed to it. They don’t have any excuses to treat me with disregard because they had sponsorship for their events”, Grace Ashy added.
